Brodber and Alexis win the Windham-Campbell Prize for fiction
Congratulations to Erna Brodber and André Alexis, two of the 2017 winners of the prestigious Windham-Campbell Prize! They and six other writers in drama, poetry and nonfiction have been awarded US$165,000 each as an unrestricted grant. The Windham-Campbell Literature Prizes are based at Yale University and are known as one of the richest literary awards in the world.
Brodber, a Jamaican, and Alexis, born in Trinidad and resident in Canada, have both produced novels in the speculative fiction genre and won multiple awards for their work. You can find purchase links for their speculative fiction novels The Rainmaker’s Mistake, Nothing’s Mat, and Fifteen Dogs on our book page, but we have not listed all of their books. Some are hard to source or out of print, and some are not speculative fiction, but you can ask for them at your library or local bookstore. Highly recommended!
